Manhunt 2 Announced

The title developed a cult following, apparently large enough for Rockstar to begin work on Manhunt 2, which is coming to the PS2, Wii and PSP this summer. Here's the official release with all the details:

Rockstar Games, the world-renowned publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., is proud to announce Manhunt 2 for the PlayStation 2 system, PSP system, and Nintendo's Wii. Manhunt 2 is the debut title from the newly formed Rockstar London studio, which is developing the game in conjunction with series creator Rockstar North. The Wii version is being developed by Rockstar Toronto. Manhunt 2 will be available this summer.

"With Manhunt 2 we have tried to create a game that stays close to the original concept of chilling suspense and stealth, whilst pushing the game design and storytelling forward," said Sam Houser, founder and executive producer of Rockstar Games.

Taste of Chaos leaves a sweet taste in mouths

"I was in the hospital today with tubes going down my throat and up my nose and everywhere else you can imagine," 30 Seconds to Mars front man Jared Leto told a packed crowd at the Rockstar Taste of Chaos last Thursday night. "The doctor said I would be crazy if I went on tonight and played for 10,000 crazy [fans] at the Long Beach Arena, but I told him this is home and you are family and you would take care of me no matter what."

The huge crowd did help take care of Leto, screaming every word of hits "From Yesterday," "The Kill" and "Attack" during the band's hour-long set. Leto even made his way through the crowd and played an intimate solo set from the soundboard in the middle of the floor.

Leto and company were just one of eight bands that played the annual tour.

15:40 Rockstar feeling euphoric at new deal (0)

With Epic's Unreal Engine 3 being all the rage at the moment, you might forgive developers for overlooking other options, since UE3 has proven its capabilities. Congratulate Rockstar then for doing something different. They have partnered up with NaturalMotion who developed the Dynamic Motion Synthesis (DMS) technology. The deal allows Rockstar to incorporate NaturalMotion's new "euphoria" engine into upcoming games.

No-one expects you to understand what the hell DMS is, but thankfully research has been done and here are the results. The "euphoria" engine brings (DMS) onto the next generation of hardware.

With euphoria, animations are not canned but are generated on-the-fly by the CPU as the game is played. Every tackle is your tackle, every haymaker is your haymaker.
