| Vice City Stories coming to the PS2. Wait, didn't they say...
Many of you will remember my visit to Rockstar that occurred last year. It was a good time, and I got to preview Bully and Vice City Stories. This passage in particular may jump out at you from the article: While I enjoyed Liberty City Stories, the PS2 version was not one of the better titles I've played this year, and I thought that releasing a straight port for $20 was silly when you were still moving good amounts of the PSP original for full price. I was assured, more than once, that Vice City Stories was PSP only; there will be no PS2 port. So you can imagine my surprise when this comes across my desk: New York, NY - February 7, 2007 - Rockstar Games, the world-renowned publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., announced today that Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories will be coming to the PlayStation 2 system.
GTA IV features Euphoria physics
Now here's a story for anti-freedom lawyer Jack Thompson, his nemesis Rockstar Games has announced it will be making use of NaturalMotion's Euphoria physics engine for several future titles, most likely including Grand Theft Auto IV. If you've seen those impressive Indiana Jones demo movies from LucasArts, where Indy throws around a bunch of bad guys and breaks scenery then you'll know what an impressive slice of code the Euphoria Engine is. According to NaturalMotion, Euphoria on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will, "simulate the human body and motor nervous system, thus creating fully interactive game characters that act differently every time. With euphoria, games move away from canned animation, towards a much richer, life-like experience that is unique to the player." "Euphoria is about giving people an interactive experience they have never seen before," said Torsten Reil, CEO of NaturalMotion.
Manhunt 2 coming to a Wii, PSP and PS2 near you this summer
Rockstar Games recently announced Manhunt 2 for release on the PlayStation 2, PSP and Nintendo Wii. Manhunt 2 will be the first title produced by the recently formed Rockstar London studio, which is developing the game in conjunction with Rockstar North who created the original. The Wii version is being developed by Rockstar Toronto. "With Manhunt 2 we have tried to create a game that stays close to the original concept of chilling suspense and stealth, whilst pushing the game design and storytelling forward," said Sam Houser, founder and executive producer of Rockstar Games. "We are also excited to have our newest development team, Rockstar London, working on the title alongside our two established UK studios, Rockstar North and Leeds." .
