GTA IV: October Release Confirmed, Episodes Coming in 2008

In its financial results conference call, publisher Take Two has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto IV will be shipped simultaneously for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in October. Take Two also announced that Rockstar will introduce in 2008 exclusive episodic content downloads for the game. It is worth mentioning that back at E3 2006, Microsoft announced a deal with Take Two's Rockstar to have exclusive episodic content for the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV. .

New details on Manhunt 2

March 06, 2007 -

Manhunt sequel coming to Nintendo Wii

Rockstar Games has announced that a sequel to controversial 2003 title Manhunt is on the way - and that a version will be produced for Nintendo Wii.

It will be the debut title from new studio Rockstar London, with help from series creator Rockstar North and Rockstar Leeds. Versions are also planned for PlayStation 2 and PSP, and the game is due out this summer.

"With Manhunt 2 we have tried to create a game that stays close to the original concept of chilling suspense and stealth, whilst pushing the game design and storytelling forward," said Rockstar founder and series producer Sam Houser.

"We are also excited to have our newest development team, Rockstar London, working on the title alongside our two established UK studios, Rockstar North and Leeds."

The news of a Manhunt sequel is not likely to be well received by many campaigners against violence in videogames, particularly in Britain - where the original game was linked by the media to the murder of teenager Stefan Pakeerah.

Come Get Your Game On

Not that I'm into shameless self-promotion, but man, oh, man... if you miss this year's GDC, please dump your case of Rockstar, toss out your PowerBars, and turn in your geek badge at the door.

The 2007 installation of the Game Developer's Conference is upon us and this one looks to be one of the hotter ones in its long history. Now that the major game platforms are out (PS3, Wii, Xbox 360) and dual-core processors are readily available, developers have more options than ever to get their storylines straight, their mazes twisted, and their graphics smooth.

What I'm looking forward to this year are the breakout sessions. That's where more conventioneers tell us that they have gotten the best information, learning from the pros. Good artists copy; great artists steal, said the jaggy-master Pablo Picasso.
