| Jack Thompson Hunts Manhunt 2
Only a few weeks after announcing Manhunt 2 will appear on store shelves in 2007, Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive got bomblasted by Florida lawyer and violent video game critic Jack Thompson. Of course, this shouldn't come as a surprise, considering the outspoken lawyer has attacked every recent Rockstar video game release except perhaps Table Tennis. Although not confirmed, there is good reason to believe that a post on a Manhunt forum from Thompson himself outlined his early opposition to Manhunt 2 and the developers behind it at the request of concerned UK citizens. Thompson said in the post, "The game will feature stealth murder and torture. The last version allowed suffocation of victims with plastic bags...Take-Two / Rockstar...is lying to the public on both sides of the pond in stating this week that the game had nothing to do with the murder." The murder he speaks of involved a 14 year-old boy in the United Kingdom getting bludgeoned to death with a hammer.
Rockstar reveals October launch of Grand Theft Auto 4, episodic ...
In the past, Grand Theft Auto titles were always the sole domain of Sony. These are the games that were on the news, in the Playstation 2s of all your friends, and all over the walls of the game stores. Liberty City Stories also did a great job of getting people excited about the PSP when the system needed a boost. It's clear that Rockstar Games and Sony get along. Of course, in the latest console war Microsoft has gained much market share—not to mention mind share. This time around Grand Theft Auto 4 is going to be released on both the PS3 and the 360 simultaneously. This is a big boost for Microsoft's system, and a major loss for Sony's hardware; Grand Theft Auto was quite the system seller. In the latest conference call detailing the company's financial results we learned the release date for the game: October of this year.
Grand Theft Auto IV euphoria
February 27, 2007 - Planet GTA brings the news that Rockstar has signed a deal with NaturalMotion to use its euphoria engine for Grand Theft Auto 4. NaturalMotion, the award-winning developer of 3D animation technology based on Dynamic Motion Synthesis (DMS), today announced a partnership with Rockstar Games, the world-renowned publishing label, to integrate NaturalMotion's revolutionary euphoria engine into upcoming next-generation Rockstar Games titles. Rockstar's integration of euphoria is well advanced, with today's announcement following several months of close collaboration between the two companies. Based on NaturalMotion's DMS technology, euphoria uses the processing power of PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 to simulate the human body and motor nervous system, thus creating fully interactive game characters that act differently every time.
